The Olympics story
Benjamin entered the list of the greatest canoeing stars in slalom on wild waters, by winning the Olympics in 2021 and thus became the fourth canoist in the world, to aquire titles of World, European and Olympian champion.
The lucky third time Benjamin attended the Olympics, he fiercely paddled through the final ride, penalty-free, leaving others more almost 3 seconds behind.
Benjamin or “Beni” for fans, friends, and family is not only winning in sports, his personality is also the driving force that makes him win and makes him an example for aspiring canoeists.
Proof of that is the rewarding welcome, that proud Slovenians gave him after returning from the Olympics in Tokyo.
He was awarded the “Golden Order of Merit” by Slovenian President Borut Pahor in recognition of his outstanding athletic accomplishments, his role in putting Slovenia on the global sports stage, and his ability to motivate others.
Benjamin comment upon receiving the award:
“this lets me know, that the effort I put into representing my country at competitions was noticed and it means something in my home country, where it is best to be appreciated. Thank you to every one who marks my path and contributes to my success.”
The president’s office officials cited his demeanor in addition to his outstanding athletic accomplishments as justification for the award. They claim that Benjamin embodies that, setting an example for the upcoming generation of Slovenian kayakers and canoeists.
